A double helping of a (not quite) Full English featuring fried bread.

As luck would have it, England was playing a World Cup qualifier during my week there. No brainer going to this match just to see the new Wembley.

And what a fabulous stadium it is... almost full to its 80,000 person capacity.

On the cab ride down to centre London from the office I had the pleasure of having a cricket fanatic cab driver. He took me on a detour to Mecca itself: Lord's.

He tried to get me through the Grace Gates to photograph the inside a little bit, but the authorities were having none of it unless I paid for a tour, of course!

Getting this ticket to see England play India at The Oval was the culmination of an unlikely set of events: An ODI match being played during India's tour, in London, at The Oval (near Daniel's house), on a weekend night AND a day/night match allowing us to get there after the work day. The only hurdle to overcome was actually getting tickets. We got to the ground at the innings break and were happy to see a crowd of scalpers trying to get rid of their tickets. Our guy wanted £60 thinking I didn't know half the match was already done. I talked him down to £40 and we were in business!

Our seats were right at field level. The turf was just as impressive from close up.

Unfortunately, getting into the Member's Pavilion isn't just a simple matter of finding the right scalper.

Rain came down during the England innings and the covers went on. First they cover the wicket and then add more and more covers on the surrounding area. As each subsequent cover came out the crowd would hiss and boo. Luckily the rain let up before the match was called off.
