Keflavik is where we touched down, on the far western side of Iceland. The 30 minute drive into Reykjavik gives you time to ponder the desolate alien landscape that you'll come to love throughout all of Iceland.

The capital of Iceland and where most of its inhabitants live, the city is surprisingly lively for its small size of 120,000 souls (almost half of Iceland's total population).

After spending a good deal of time in the waters at the Blue Lagoon, we decided to take the "long way" back to Reykjavik and didn't realize the vast difference between their definition of "dirt road" and ours.

The Golden Circle is a loop of tourist attractions including the Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir and Strokkur water spouts and the cite of the world's first parliament at �ingvellir.

We stayed in farm accomodations in Vik which is known for its woolen products and black sand beaches. It is also a bird sanctuary and major Puffin breeding ground.

Jokulsarlon means "Iceberg Lagoon" and that's literally what it is. A big lagoon that traps recently calved icebergs before they float off to sea. Tours are conducted in good ol' Duck boats, just like in Boston.
